On the 50th anniversary of his death, a conference commemorating his life and work

During his life Dr Norbert Wiener influenced mathematics, philosophy, science, technology, ethics, biology, prosthetics, education, manufacturing and other fields. Cyberspace is named after his multidisciplinary approach, "cybernetics". He was an early practitioner of diversity and social inclusion, and an advocate of social responsibility in the development of technology. This conference will look at his ideas and the influence they have today.
It is part of a renewed interest in Dr Wiener's work, an interest that is being reflected in research, writing and practice, and in both old and new media.

Technology and Society in Asia

Singapore, 27-29 October 2012

Next year marks the 40th anniversary of the SSIT's origins. The adoption of the IEEE tagline Advancing Technology for Humanity shows widespread support within IEEE for SSIT's concepts. In IEEE's Region 10 there are SSIT chapters in Japan and Australia, along with SSIT members in many IEEE sections. This conference will provide the opportunity for both academic researchers and industry professionals to present, discuss and network across the region.
